Alphabet Cards - Safari
Learning the letters of the alphabet is part of the process in learning to read. It’s one piece in a puzzle to a sound understanding and successful journey and you have just taken the first step.
Here, we’ve made it simple and fun, appealing to the Individual interests of your little one, by incorporating a beautiful selection of themed words and images.
Both upper and lower-case letters are present on the card, allowing for visual recognition and finger tracing.
There is an image prompt, to encourage your little one to begin to sound out their letters (this is called sounding out phonemes - the building blocks to reading!).
When using the flashcards and learning the letters with your little one remember to sound the letters as they should sound, with the purest of sound possible. For example, the letter ‘d’ has the letter name that is pronounced ‘dee’. It also has a sound that we pronounce ‘d’. This means that the sound ‘d’ is just that and not ‘der’, that ‘b’ is not ‘buh’ and ‘p’ not ‘per’. If we literally just show the pure sound, we are making it is so much easier for our little learners to be able to blend and segment letters and sounds, and later to decode.
Please note that this product is a digital download. You will need to print the images on paper and laminate them, or use synthetic paper for durability.
